Our Response to Secular Overthrow-Oath Keepers

First, I need to establish what I mean by "secular overthrow". It is obvious to many of us that the US Constitution is not being followed by those who swore to defend it. If you haven't read it for a while, you may follow a link in the left column to read it afresh. (It might make you mad to realize how far we've strayed.)

There are many foreign troops on American soil, based in American camps. Many think they may be here to do the enforcing of anti-gun laws that US citizen troops would be reluctant to enforce, when "they" come to "get our guns". When American citizens are rounded up into concentration camps for being "domestic terrorists" (search FEMA &/or REX 48 in the search box in the upper right hand corner for more info), US citizen forces may not be trustworthy to be emotionally detached. Apparently, carrying a bible, or having a copy of the Constitution is enough to qualify as "domestic terrorists" for some folks.

Israel was repeatedly set upon by foreign powers -under God's oversight- for her lack of repentance...until she repented, then God would deliver her again. And Israel is God's chosen nation. When Jesus comes back to establish the millennial kingdom, it will be in Israel! He will turn yet again to His chosen people. How can God not judge America when He has always judged the nations.

It isn't beyond the realm of feasibility to believe horrors are in store for those opposed to, and resistant to domination by forces against freedom. Count on it. Where ever communism has conquered a country, bloodshed has been horrendous. Many in the world salivate at the thought of the US coming under subjugation of her enemies, and it seems as though we have true "domestic terrorist' in control of our country. What the church needs to think about, if these things should come to pass, is NOT armed resistance as some right wing "Christian" groups would teach. Rather the church needs to think about the word of God! What did Jesus and the apostles teach? How does the old testament teach us victory was obtained?

The first thing the church needs to re-read is the sermon on the mount, starting in Matthew 5.
There is a bible reader in the left hand column if you need to read it. Go ahead, I'll wait. Come back and we'll keep going.

39. But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
43. Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45. That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47. And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Remember, when Jesus spoke these things, Jerusalem was filled with Roman soldiers. Israel was again a conquered nation.
How much did Jesus teach about overthrowing the evil interlopers? How many sermons did he use to rile the masses up against Rome? NEVER.

Paul was in and out of Roman prisons, appearing before Roman potentates, and appealing to Roman authority for the rest of a his life, until Rome finally took his head! How many sermons do you read from Paul about armed resistance against Rome? Not once.

Joseph was the kind of man we need to be, and Daniel, and Job, and Noah.

Ezek. 14:
12. The word of the Lord came again to me, saying,
13. Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:
14. Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord God.
15. If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:
16. Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.
17. Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:
18. Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.
19. Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:
20. Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

Noah was considered a nut case by everyone, until it started to rain. But he just kept being faithful, doing what God had called him to do. Live out your faith, Noah, and it will be alright! He worked by faith a long time waiting for that rain.

Job was apparently a true story. At least God thought it was the truth, or He wouldn't have told Ezekiel Job was righteous in his generation. Job lost everything, but retained his integrity! God blessed Job with twice as much as before his trials, when all was said and done. All is soon to be over for this generation too, and the faithful will receive our reward when He comes.

Joseph was faithful, even when it appeared God had forgotten him. God never forgot anyone, or anything except our sin when it went under the blood, and waters of repentance.

What evil befell Joseph was always in God's hands. It was designed by God for GOOD!

Daniel, like Joseph, was taken as a child into a foreign land, conquered physically, but never spiritually! Daniel, like Joseph, because he remained true to his faith, was blessed, and became a blessing to God's people. It didn't matter externally what was transpiring. Internally God was at the helm! We can do that too! Remain faithful to Jesus, the word of God made flesh. You may physically become a prisoner, but 2 Cor.3: 17 says... Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Don't let your heart and mind be ruled by what your physical eyes see. Look with the eyes of the Spirit, see the world through the lens of God's word. If you are born again...a true child of faith in the word of God, in Jesus, the only redeemer...you can't lose. You can't be beaten, except externally. Paul was beaten externally, but was a real winner. All the apostles, save John, were martyred. Jesus, our example, was beated and murdered physically, but rose again. So shall we rise again, if we keep the faith.

Paul wrote...
Phil. 3
7. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
8. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
9. And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
10. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
11. If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

The Oath Keepers organization, as far as I can tell by their web site (attainable by clicking the title of this post) does NOT advocate violence. Their oath is to NOT obey orders to countermand the constitution. I agree with their oath. I do NOT countenance violence, not do I believe the scriptures give us liberty to do violence for any cause.
